YOUR SOLAR PROJECT

What happens after you buy

Ten steps from signing to switch-on. QuiqNest runs all of it and keeps your loan officer posted, so you are not managing an installation on top of buying a house.

Your home closes first. Solar is installed afterwards, so none of this holds up your closing.

What we need from you

Four things, and three of them you were doing anyway.

  1. You choose solar. Sign the agreement.
  2. A quick attic and electrical check. Confirm a time that works and make sure we can get access.
  3. You close on your home. Close on your home, exactly as you would without solar.
  4. We book your installation date. Agree a date that works for you.

Everything else is ours. If we ever need something from you, we contact you directly.

  1. You choose solar

You sign the solar agreement while your mortgage is being arranged. It only becomes active when your home purchase closes, so if the purchase does not go through, you owe nothing.

Handled by You and your loan officerYou: Sign the agreement.
  2. A quick attic and electrical check

A certified installer checks the attic and the electrical panel. Your roof layout is already designed from satellite imagery, so nobody needs to climb on it to measure. This visit is booked within 72 hours of your signed agreement.

Handled by A certified installer, arranged by QuiqNestYou: Confirm a time that works and make sure we can get access.
  3. You close on your home

Your mortgage closes and the home is yours. This is the point the solar work starts, and it starts the 120-day window to get your system installed and switched on.

Handled by You, your lender and your title companyYou: Close on your home, exactly as you would without solar.
  4. We finalise your panel layout

The installer turns the design into the engineered plans your city needs in order to issue a permit.

  5. Your city reviews the permit

The local building department reviews the plans and issues the permit. How long this takes is up to them, not us, and it is the step most likely to sit still for a while.

  6. We book your installation date

With the permit in hand, a crew and a date are booked. We agree the day with you first.

  7. The panels go on

The crew installs your system. You do not need to be home for the whole visit unless we have told you otherwise.

  8. The city inspects the work

A local inspector checks the finished installation and signs it off.

  9. Your power company switches you on

Your utility gives permission to connect the system to the grid. This is the last step and the one nobody can rush, including us.

  10. Your system is producing power

The system is on and generating. From here it is simply part of your home, and you own it.

Timing on permits, inspections and your power company is set by those offices, not by QuiqNest. We track every one of them and chase the ones that stall.
